Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed knowledge and understanding of the broad range of individual differences in children, adolescents and adults with special needs. Students should also have developed skills in identifying specific competencies in cognitive, language, learning, attention and social and emotional development.
Synopsis This subject focuses on several areas of exceptionality involving the education and learning experiences of preschool and school-age children and adults. It is based on an understanding of normal intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. Opportunities will be provided for in-depth study of selected topics. Students will be required to read widely and to participate in regular lecture-discussions and practical sessions.
