Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to identify and describe the many elements which are involved in constructing and maintaining a curriculum and understand their interaction. Students should have developed the skills to participate in curriculum design and change in an informed manner. Students should be capable of examining critically contemporary issues in school-based curriculum development.
Synopsis The subject will focus on the theory and practice of school-based curriculum development, including an introduction to curriculum evaluation. Current issues such as innovation in education in Victoria and the National Curriculum and competency-based education will be examined. The subject is taught by study guides and selected and recommended readings.
Assessment Two assignments equally weighted (1200
words): 60%
* One project (1500 words): 40%
