Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed knowledge and understanding of posture, back care and potentially harmful exercises; exercise prescription; fitness evaluation; resistance training; principles of instruction. Students should be able to demonstrate skills in structuring an exercise to music class; musicality and phrasing when choreographing exercises to music; and demonstrate correct exercise technique. Students should also have developed a positive attitude to the learning area relating to increased feelings of competence and confidence.
Synopsis This subject follows on from exercise physiology. The subject aims to increase students' knowledge and understanding of exercise programming and prescription; introduce students to principles of instruction in fitness classes.
