Intermediate Vietnamese, part 1

Objectives On the successful completion of this subject students should have developed further understanding of the Vietnamese language, acquired an expanded vocabulary, new syntactic structures and new conversational conventions; and at the same time, should be able to apply that acquired knowledge to communication in an expanding number of social situations.

Synopsis As for VTN2210. An intermediate level of Vietnamese with an emphasis on active oral and writing skills. This subject consolidates and builds on the foundation set in the first year. It focuses on active production of language in selected contexts to promote active recall of vocabulary items and their usage in the appropriate context using the correct grammatical form in accordance with accepted conversational conventions. A reading program forms a part of the subject. Attention is given to the social and cultural context of language use.
