Objectives At the completion of this subject, students should have improved their language skills and acquired a broader awareness of contemporary cultural life in Spain.
Synopsis During the semester preceding the intensive course students will prepare for their period in Spain in weekly tutorials using audiovisual materials and selected readings. In Madrid students will attend four hours of intensive language instruction and practice daily and additional lectures on appropriate cultural topics. Excursions to places of historical and cultural interest and to cultural events are a compulsory component of the subject.
Assessment Written (2000 words): 40%

* Regular class assignments in Madrid: 20%
* Students to
keep a diary.
