Advanced intermediate Korean, part 1

Objectives A principal objective of this subject is to have students acquire semi-academic proficiency, so that they are able to speak and comprehend Korean with structural accuracy and vocabulary sufficient to manage most formal and informal conversations on practical and social topics of general intrest to the students' age group. In listening, they should be able to listen for information from instructions, short lectures, and announcements.

Synopsis The aim of the subject is to extend the language skills acquired in the second year to the level of more advanced and competent communication skills in speaking, reading and writing. The subject is designed to develop and consolidate the language skills by placing emphasis on active oral skills in more sophisticated conversation and on comprehension skills in reading diversely selected materials.

Assessment Examination (4 hours): 40%
* Continuous assessment (oral and written class work, homework, tests): 60%
