Objectives As for HYM4090 with the additional objective that students should develop a more sophisticated understanding of the range of conceptual approaches to the study of immigration and the immigrant experience.

Synopsis As for HYM4090. In their research essay, students doing the subject at fifth-year level are expected to demonstrate a wider range of reading and a more sophisticated understanding of key theoretical issues in the study of immigrant experiences.

Assessment (8 points) Seminar paper (2000 words): 30%
* Research essay (4000 words): 70%
Assessment (12 points) Two short papers (2000 words each): 20% each
* Research essay (5000 words): 60%
