Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to select the appropriate medium and style for each illustration task; convey messages effectively through the content of each illustration so that it reflects and meets the demands of the brief; combine technical skill in all illustrative media with an experimental attitude; meet the demands of different scales in illustration tasks, from large format posters to small, single column editorial images; combine illustration with the greater practice of design, including typography, layout and packaging.

Synopsis This subject pursues in greater depth the use of illustration in the commercial environment, in conjunction with specific design problems; to communicate clearly the emphasis of the brief and successfully combine illustration with the elements of design: type, layout, packaging forms etc.
