Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should use a range of traditional media proficiently; employ basic skills in contemporary computer-based image making; use all illustrative media in an inquiring and experimental way; illustrate in two and three dimensions; translate words, thoughts and ideas into effective visual concepts; understand and pursue the application of illustration in the commercial environment.
Synopsis This subject emphasises the role of illustration as a powerful communication device while continuing to encourage wide experimentation in various two and three-dimensional media and simple computer-based image making. Students begin to apply their illustrations to greater design and layout problems, thus understanding the use of illustration in the commercial environment.
