Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have an extended understanding of the theory and the means of producing combustion for heat transfer; an expanded knowledge of kiln building materials and tools; an increased awareness of the principles of kiln design; a broad technical expertise in kiln building skills.

Synopsis Formal lectures and practical work continue to advance students' designing processes and technical skills and increase their understanding of the variety of firing activities.
