Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be familiar with the qualities of the basic materials required for kiln construction; be aware of the fundamental design principles of kiln building and the variety of structure; have basic knowledge of the theory of combustion and heat transfer; have basic kiln building skills; understand and implement health and safety standards.

Synopsis Formal lectures and practical demonstrations introduce students to the variety of kiln structure, designing processes, the theory of kiln construction and the materials associated with and available for kiln building.
