A number of programs are designed specifically for students whose first language is not English

Courses, workshops and individual sessions are offered at different times during the academic year.

Berwick

LLS is able to provide occasional classes on subjects such as effective reading, essay writing, and examination strategies. These workshops are provided by the unit's staff at Caulfield. For early 1997 the unit's central offices are in the Gallery building. A larger central office with self-access resources for students is planned for the new extension to the Union building.

The unit at Caulfield contains a student resource centre. Students are welcome to use the centre for individual or group study. Print materials, audiotapes, videotapes and software are available for loan or for use at the centre. There is a computer terminal for student use. The unit also holds a drop-in session, which is a service designed to provide brief answers to assignment-related problems. The session is available on Fridays from 2 pm to 4 pm: no appointment is necessary.

Gippsland

LLS provides consultations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Short courses are also offered throughout the year in the tutorial room, North Place 4.
