Objectives The subject is intended to provide the fundamental concepts in the field of mechatronics. The student is expected to acquire the knowledge and understanding of the basic theory for development and integration of mechatronic systems, together with applications of mechanical/electronic/software (MES) engineering in practical situations.
Synopsis Asynchronous systems. Boolean algebra and functions. Synthesis of logic systems. Microprocessors and embedded systems. Fuzzy logic controllers. Artificial neural networks and their applications. Transducers and sensors: theory and applications. Actuation: servo, stepper, drivers, pneumatics, etc. Development of design formulations. Machine vision. System development and integration: case studies, MES system design and programming. Autonomous systems. Applications.
