Mathematics for transforms

J Jeavons

4 points
* Two 1-hour lectures per week, one 1-hour tutorial
* First semester
* Clayton
* Prerequisites: MAT1020 and one of MAT1010, MAT1050

Objectives On completion of this subject students should have developed skills in the methods of Laplace transforms, Fourier series and transforms, and Z-transforms; be able to apply these techniques to problems involving continuous and discrete time signals; and be able to use transforms to solve difference and differential equations.

Synopsis Classification of systems. Analysis of continuous time systems using the Laplace transform, Fourier series and Fourier transform. Discrete time system analysis using the discrete time Fourier transform and the Z-transform.

Assessment Tests/assignments: 15%
* Examination (1.5 hours): 85%
