Agribusiness includes all private firms, public agencies and statutory marketing authorities that bring food and fibre products to consumers or industrial customers. The course provides an overview of the agribusiness system, introduces the basic management functions of marketing, accounting and finance and applies these concepts to the various participants in the agribusiness system.
On completion of the course students should:
Applicants require a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution plus a minimum of two years relevant employment experience. Applicants without a first degree who have at least six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on executive certificates.
This is a fee-paying graduate course. Candidates should consult the Syme Department of Marketing at to the 1997 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
The Graduate Certificate in Agribusiness is normally completed in two semesters of part-time study.
The course is offered on-campus as a series of eight intensive five-day residential sessions presented at the Peninsula campus.
No credit for work done previously is available in this graduate certificate.
First semester
On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Agribusiness students may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness.
