General

This course is aimed at providing the specialised skills and expertise critical for successful decision-making within the Asian region. Designed for business people, economists, lawyers, bankers, financiers, accountants and managers connected directly or through clients to the Asian region, the course focuses on financial, legal, economic and social factors that impact upon operations within the Asian region.

Course objectives

The course has both an academic and a vocational orientation and provides participants with:

Entrance requirements

Normally admission to the course is open to applicants who have qualified for a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Applicants without a first degree who have at least six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on executive certificates.

Fees

This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Syme Department of Banking and Finance as to the 1997 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.

Duration

The Graduate Certificate in Asian Business is normally completed in two semesters of part-time study.

Mode of offering

Evening classes are offered on-campus at the Caulfield campus.

Credit for work done previously

Students may be eligible for a maximum of two credit exemptions for subjects considered to be the equivalent of particular subjects in the course of study. Please refer to the course director for further details.

Course structure

The course can be taken on a one or two subject per semester basis. Completion of the course requires a pass in four subjects.

Progression to further studies

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Asian Business may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in International Business.
