The Graduate Certificate in Marketing is designed specifically for experienced managers and administrators who currently hold a university degree and wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge in marketing at a graduate level.
On completion of this course, students should:
Applicants require a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution plus a minimum of three years relevant employment experience.
Applicants without a first degree who have a minimum of six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on executive certificates.
It is strongly recommended that students have access to a personal computer. (Please note that the School of Business and Electronic Commerce is an IBM-compatible Windows environment.) It is also recommended that students have access to a modem to facilitate e-mail communication with teaching staff.
This is a fee-paying graduate course for which no additional liability under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) will be incurred. For a student undertaking the normal workload of two subjects per semester, fees of $800 per subject will apply. An additional fee will also apply for amenities and library services. Fees paid may be tax deductible in accordance with Section 51(i) of the Income Tax Assessment Act, but students will need to determine their own tax position. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
The Graduate Certificate in Marketing is normally completed in two semesters of part-time study.
This course is offered by distance education from the School of Business and Electronic Commerce.
Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of two credit exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in the course of study. Please refer to the course director for further details.
The sequence of subjects is as follows:
The course is designed to introduce participants to marketing and marketing management principles and concepts. The course then builds on those two subjects with a range of advanced tools for decision-making as well as providing an international orientation of marketing.
Applications close the first week in February (first intake) and the first week in June (second intake). Fees are payable on acceptance of an offer. An administration fee is payable for those students who withdraw from the course before 31 March (first intake) and 31 August (second intake).
