Synopsis
This unit is designed to assist honours students specialising in art theory or visual culture to extend their preferred field/s of study through a program of directed reading and critical writing, facilitated by regular seminars with staff.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this unit, students will have the ability to:
- Identify and explore new and unfamiliar theoretical material of relevance to their advanced studies in art theory.
- Formulate critical responses and develop sophisticated written interpretations of key issues in the field of art theory.
- Consolidate bibliographical research in fields of study relevant to their independent research.

First Tutorial Paper 2500 words (25%)
Second Tutorial Paper 2500 words (35%)
Research Essay 4000 words (40%)
Workload requirements
4 contact hours plus 20 hours of private study hours per week
