This specialisation engages with the key issues and debates relating to digital technology in education and the application of effective educational technology practices for learning. You will learn how to adapt digital technologies effectively in teaching and learning across school, tertiary, workplace and community settings. There is a special focus on online teaching and learning but instructional issues relating to emerging technologies and practices, such as social media, digital games, mobile devices, virtual worlds and augmented reality will also be explored.

Units

In order to graduate from D6002 Master of Education with a specialisation in digital learning students must complete two or three enhanced professional learning units as follows (24 or 36 points).

Students complete one or two of the following:

  • EDF5647 Technology and education key issues and debates
  • EDF5648 Instructional design: Harnessing digital technologies for learning

and one or two of the following:

  • EDF5632 Understanding inclusion in learning communities
  • EDF5657 Indigenous perspectives in professional practice
  • EDF5658 Young people: Culture, communities and education
  • EDF5661 Designing learning for adults
  • EDF5662 Leading local, rural and regional learning and participation
  • EDF5663 Education and globalisation in the Asian century
  • EDF5664 Learning through participation
  • EDF5810 VCAL and VET at school

Successful completion of this postgraduate specialisation can be counted towards meeting the requirements for the following degree:

  • D6002 Master of Education
