Undergraduate - UnitSWK3330 - Advanced child welfare practice

Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1. Discuss some of the complexities and challenges of working with clients who present with problems encompassing a number of domains of service delivery;
2. Critically analyze the interplay of personal and structural characteristics of selected special needs groups including, but not limited to, indigenous children and young people and children and young people with dual diagnoses;
3. Understand the key features of inter-agency collaboration including its strengths and limitations;
4. Critically review standards of care provided to children and young people including analysis of issues involved in abuse in care; and
5. Develop appropriate case plans and care plans to meet criteria concerned with amelioration of risk, client wishes and interests, available resources and policy and legal considerations and constraints.
