This Bachelor of Education (Honours) specialisation qualifies graduates to teach children from birth to 12 years of age in childcare, kindergartens, preschools and primary schools, as educators spanning both the early childhood and primary years. Students study in depth how to engage children in meaningful learning through innovative pedagogical practice.
Students are awarded one full year (48 credit points) of credit towards the first year of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Years and Primary Education on the successful completion of the Diploma of Children's Services or equivalent as determined by the faculty. Where the faculty has an articulation agreement with an institution, credit for prior studies as outlined in the agreement will be honoured.
Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Include contemporary child development theories, sociology and educational psychology and practices and innovation in curriculum and pedagogy in schools.

Content knowledge and discipline studies are integrated under the curriculum studies theme, with emphasis on exploring young children's learning holistically in diverse contexts, through a range of pedagogical perspectives and practices.

Comprise professional experience and research units. Students also learn how to provide leadership and management in a range of early childhood education and school settings, and gain practical teaching experience by completing 90 days of supervised professional experience in early childhood settings and primary schools.
