Description

The study of secondary education in a double degree involves:

  • developing specialist knowledge and skills in a subject which is taught in secondary schools
  • preparing for a career as a secondary teaching specialist in one or more areas within the school curriculum
  • teaching and learning strategies, education policy, theories and practice, and how to engage students in the secondary years in innovative and purposeful learning
  • applying in-depth academic study through supervised professional experiences in schools
  • opportunities to pursue professional learning and employment in areas beyond education
  • becoming qualified to teach as a subject specialist to Year 12.

Requirements

Students undertaking a double degree with the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) complete all of the following units in the education component. For details of the non-education component of the double degree refer to the 'Requirements' section of the relevant course entry in the University Handbook.
