Notes
The Master of Education is a generalist degree designed for those who want to advance their professional interests across a broad range of unit choices. Taking units in this course will allow students to explore relationships between research and practice across contexts of choice, such as school, vocational, tertiary, workplace and/or community. It allows options to select units of interest from across the master's program and, in this way, to construct a course that addresses specific professional and personal interests.
There are four tiers that make up the Master of Education program. Student learning is sequenced from broad to deep across the four tiers:
(1.) Orientation to education tier orients those who come into the program without previous qualifications in education or work experience in education-related work.
(2.) Key constructs in education tier introduces students to some key theoretical frames and ideas within them, across a broad theme. It shows their expression and engagement in research conducted on this theme.
(3.) Enhanced professional learning tier deepens students' knowledge of particular ideas, specialist areas and contexts.
(4.) Professional inquiry tier supports students to extend their scholarly work through their contribution to public intellectual debate or by developing new knowledge in an area of their interest.
Alternatively by completing specified units within the enhanced professional learning requirement, students can obtain a specialisation in one of the areas under 'Related areas of study'.
Students choose any two or three units from the full suite of enhanced professional learning units below:
