Synopsis

An introduction to the major techniques which underpin the practical aspects of compound identification:

• UV spectroscopy
• IR spectroscopy
• mass spectroscopy
• NMR spectroscopy.

Assessment

practical and tests during semester: 40%; examination (3 hours): 60%

PSC1021 (or VPS1021) Organic chemistry I
PSC1022 (or VPS1022) Organic chemistry II
