Synopsis
A minimum of thirty days of appropriate supervised inclusive and special education professional practice experiences in school-based settings can be spread across the semester or taken in one or more intensive block periods. Units EDF6602 and EDF6614 meet the requirements for registered teachers working as a special education professional in Victorian schools. Students must have their placements approved by the practicum coordinator, Dr Joanne Deppeler.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this unit, participants should have gained school-based experience; an understanding of the principles which influence current inclusive education, approaches for supporting student diversity; and will have developed knowledge and skills appropriate to improving their professional practice.
Assessment
Professional practice report totalling 3000 words comprises (Part A: 1500-2000 words and Part B: 1000-1500 words): 60%
Reflective Journal (3500 words): 40%. The time involved in practicum placement activities have been taken into account in designing the other work to be assessed in this unit (equiv. 1500 words)
