Synopsis
In a changing adult education and training context, adult educators have assumed new roles and responsibilities in project management. This unit aims to expose students to a range of key issues, strategies and techniques relevant to the development, planning, and managing of projects. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of practical skills that are used in various aspects and phases of project management.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have:
- Acquired an understanding of the nature and origins of project management, and its application in contemporary contexts.
- Acquired an understanding of the main principles, strategies, tools and processes for planning, implementing, and controlling projects; and
- Developed the basic practical skills necessary for advocating, planning, and managing projects.
Assessment
Assignment 1: Evaluation report: analysis of a doomed project (1,500 words) 40%; Assignment 2: Submission of a project management plan and implementation strategy (2,500 words) 60%.
