Synopsis
This unit will examine the provision of quality childcare services for children under 3 years of age, including relationships, programming and environments. The importance of partnerships with parents will be stressed. Students will undertake a placement as well as visits in an under 3 program.
Objectives
The broad aims of this unit are for students to demonstrate an ability to plan an appropriate program for children under three years of age; demonstrate an appreciation of the different factors that are required for quality care/education for infants and toddlers in childcare services; identify and discuss the key issues that have been raised in relation to infant and toddler care and education programs; critically examine the literature on infant and toddler childcare and be able to relate the findings to their own experiences with infant and toddler programs.
Assessment
PGO will be awarded in this unit. Students must receive a satisfactory grade in both the written tutorial requirements and practicum placement

Presentation (1600 words): 40%
