Students undertake compulsory studies in communications, international studies and writing as well as a range of electives. In addition, students will undertake a range of elective units from the Faculty of Arts or other faculties. Course objectivesThis professionally-oriented program with an international focus provides students with skills that can be utilised in areas such as mass media, public affairs and corporate communication. Course requirementsStudents must complete at least 144 points: (a) a communication major of eight units (48 points) (b) an arts minor (24 points) (c) at least three first-year arts sequences. Current unit offerings: COM1010 (Media studies) and COM1020 (Introduction to communication studies); JRN1902 (Newsroom practice and theory) and JRN1903 (Feature writing); INT1010 (Contemporary worlds 1) and INT1020 (Contemporary worlds 2) (d) at least 96 points of arts units (e) a minimum of 36 points at third-year (including those completed in the communications major sequence). Note that no more than 10 units (60 points) are to be completed at a first-year level. Students have a maximum of eight years to complete this course.
