To cater for the needs of these target groups, four units are available relevant to these workplace settings. For applicants with previous studies in psychology and who are interested in articulating to higher degrees, a range of substitute units are also offered to extend their knowledge and skills. Selection into the program will be based on qualifications, academic merit, relevant work experience, referee reports and/or interviews. Course structureThe program is based on four 12-point coursework units, giving a total of 48 points. Units offered are:
* For students enrolled in off-campus mode, EDF6531 (Counselling for the professions) has a compulsory three-day (20-hour) residential session at the Clayton campus. Students with APS-approved study in psychologyStudents who have already successfully completed four years of APS-approved study in psychology may apply to undertake units from the Master of Psychology (Counselling) degree as part of the Master in Counselling program. A written application to undertake Master of Psychology units must accompany the application for the program. To be eligible to undertake the psychology units, applicants must meet the entry requirements for the Master of Psychology (Counselling) program. Students will be informed in writing whether their application has been successful. Students are strongly advised to seek course advice from the psychology programs administrator before enrolling. For further information about the Master of Psychology (Counselling) program, refer to the course entry in this handbook. ArticulationStudents granted permission to undertake the Master of Psychology (Counselling) units as part of the Master in Counselling program may be eligible to apply for articulation into the Master of Psychology (Counselling). Students must successfully complete all required Master of Psychology units to be considered for articulation into the Master of Psychology (Counselling).
