Course description

This double-degree course aims to provide a broad-based foundation in business and management while providing existing and aspiring international development professionals with the opportunity of developing specialist knowledge and expertise in sustainable development.

Credit for prior studies

Candidates should consult the MBA Programs office regarding the credit criteria for the MBA.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete 10 core units (60 points):

MBA5005 Strategic management
MBA9002 The legal environment of business
MBA9003 Economics for managers
MBA9004 Accounting for business
MBA9005 Corporate finance
MBA9006 Marketing
MBA9007 Business analysis
MBA9008 Managing and leading people at work
MBA9009 Managing information
MBA9050 International business

(b) Students must complete (60 points) from the Master of International Development and Environmental Analysis as follows:

(i) students must complete the following of four units (36 points):

IDA4140 Zones of transformation
IDA4230 Research and analysis in political ecology
IDA5130 Environmental revolutions
IDA5220 The art and business of international development

(ii) students must complete one unit (12 points) from the following:

IDA5310 Final project in M.IDEA (internship-based client project)
IDA5400 Supervised research paper in IDEA

(iii) four units (24 points) from units offered in the Master of International Development and Environmental Analysis program or other electives at course directors’ discretion.
