Synopsis: Flavouring agents, perfumes, colours, food products, cosmetic products, drug products, agricultural chemicals, consumer chemicals, product design, protection of intellectual property, copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial processing, quality control, TQM, ISO 9000, regulation of the chemical industry, hazardous materials, GLP
Objectives: Students will develop an: - Understanding of requirements of formulations in the pharmaceutical, food, personal care, agricultural chemical and consumar chemical industries. - Ability to design formulations in the above categories and to modify formulations to overcome product deficiencies. - Appreciation of manufacturing processes, of quality control systems and protection of intellectual property.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours)
Prerequisites: All of 2nd year B.Form. Sci units
