Synopsis: As for SPN1010
Objectives: On completion of this subject, students will be able to: 1. Converse in Spanish for 5 to 10 minutes about present and future activities. 2. Use the following tenses: the present habitual, the present progressive and the informal future. 3. Write compositions of up to 100 words in Spanish, with the help of a Spanish-English dictionary and a reference grammar. 4. Engage in conversations and discussions in Spanish, about themselves, their family and friends 5. Read and comprehend texts in Spanish of up to 500 words; 6. Demonstrate an understanding of key aspects of Hispanic cultures and societies.
Assessment: 1.3 assignments (700 words):15%; 2.2 written tests(1000 words): 20%; 3.2 Culture quizzes (500 words): 10%; 4.Oral exam 10% 5.Final Culture exam (700 words):10%; 6.Final Language exam (1500 words: 30% Additional comment All assessment with the exception of the culture exam will be in Spanish.

Prohibitions: SPN1010 Students enrolled in Arts courses are prohibited from taking this unit
