Caulfield Second semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: This unit provides students with an introduction to social research. It covers research fundamentals with an emphasis on research design. Students will learn how to match methodological traditions, research questions and research techniques. Students will also develop some practical research skill sand an understanding of the complexity of research practice.
Assessment: Research report (3000 words): 60% + Exam (1.5 hours, 1500 words): 30% + Class preparation and participation: 10% + Third-year students are expected to show a greater degree of sophistication in their written work.
Contact Hours: 3 hours (1 x 1 hour lecture and 1 x 2 hour tutorial) per week
