Synopsis: The unit provides a significant learning experience for students to implement the principles, skills and strategies of collaborative education by establishing a community group, or workplace project to advance understanding in the development of community engagement towards sustainability. The unit provides a framework and supervised practice that requires the student to reflect on the integration of theory and practice in facilitating skill development within their community or workplace.
Objectives: 1. Demonstrate a highly developed understanding of the principles and practice of rural/regional community development, integrating and extending the knowledge from facilitating Community Development with new knowledge acquired through experiential learning in this unit. 2. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the effectiveness and value collaborative learning strategies and self directed learning in relation to rural/regional community development through the process of applicaton to a community project
Assessment: Planning proposal to document strategies own roles and challenges in establishing community or workplace engagement in collaborative learning. (2000 words) 50% + Reflective journal and participation (equivalent to 2000 words) 50%
