Synopsis: The course is designed to enhance skills, knowledge and understanding of facilitating community involvement of diverse groups of people into areas of decision-making. This solution focused learning will introduce participants to a systematic approach to enable 'ordinary people' to work together and establish common goals towards sustainable futures.
Objectives: The learning objectives of this unit are: 1. To have a knowledge and understanding of rural/regional community development principles and practice 2. to understand and apply collaborative learning strategies 3. To facilitate group involvement in learning 4. To facilitate involvement of diverse sectors within the community 5. To engage in self directed learning through reflection and evaluation
Assessment: Two assignments (2,000 words each): 80% + participation in learning activities: 20%.
Contact Hours: 2 hours per week
Prerequisites: Degree or diploma or significant experience in community development or community education
