Synopsis: This unit concentrates on the management of human resources in the external and internal organisation context. It focuses on the contribution of HRM to competitive advantage via an analysis of HR planning, job design, staffing, reward systems, staff development, and HRM auditing. The relationship between the legal, ethical, and industrial relations issues and HRM is also explored.
Assessment: On-campus: Individual assignment (3000 words): 30% + Participation and group assignment (min 1500 words): 20% + Examination (3 hours): 50% Off campus: Individual assignment (3000 words): 30% + Individual assignment (2500 words): 20% + Examination (3 hours): 50%
Contact Hours: Three hours of class contact.
Prerequisites: 24 credit points including MGF1010. Recommendation: Students should study this unit in the 2nd year of their course.
