Synopsis: Discrete random variables, probability distributions, methods of estimation. Regression, prediction, and correlation analysis. Experimental techniques including accuracy of measurements and analysis of finite length records. Stochastic processes, convolution, Fourier analysis, digital spectral analysis, with applications to mechanical engineering problems.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 80% + Assignments: 20%
Contact Hours: 22 lectures, 22 laboratory hours
Prerequisites: MAT2901 and MAT2902
