Synopsis: Introduction to discrete event and continuous process systems modelling and simulation: Simulation paradigms and techniques. Commercial modellers and packages. Boundary definition. Model specifications. Data collection and presentation. Model definition and development. Debugging tools and techniques. Industrial ecology - industrial activities and the environment; environment carrying capacity; environmental life cycle assessment (ELCA); and computer-aided assessment of environmental impact of industrial activities.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignment: 30%
Contact Hours: 22 lecture hours and 22 laboratory/practice class hours
