Gippsland First semester 2006 (Day)
Gippsland Summer 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: Techniques for system identification including step response models, ARMA / ARX models for linear systems and NARMA / NARX models for nonlinear systems. Multivariable design techniques, evaluation of conventional methods for multivariable systems and establishment of need for pattern recognition methods for multivariable control design. Fuzzy logic, neural network and other pattern recognition techniques. Simulation study with MATLAB / SIMULINK software. Implementation of the controller based on a simulation study. Experiments with multivariable controllers based on fuzzy logic and neural network methods.
Assessment: Examination: 60% + Assignments: 20% + Laboratory work: 20%
Contact Hours: 26 lecture hours, 26 laboratory and 26 tutorial hours (on-campus)
Prerequisites: Substantial completion of second level of the Mechatronics course, including GSE2802 and GSE2803
