Synopsis: Individual coursework in technical and conceptual areas chosen by the student. Students investigate a theme using one or a combination of the materials and art processes introduced in previous art units, resulting in the development of an individual, well-resolved practical folio containing original artworks and demonstrating selective and confident use of skills and techniques.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to show that they have developed a level of skill to express personal concepts through a range of media which would include painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and/or digital art; be able to communicate verbally about their chosen media and its visual outcomes; be able to show that they are capable of incorporating various art processes as a means of visual expression; have completed expressive works and have experienced the process of arranging these works at a public exhibition.
Assessment: A folio of major works (3200 word equivalent): 80% + resource folder (800 word equivalent): 20%
