Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: Moment expansions; differentiators, integrators and spectrum analysers; representation of bandpass signals; group delay and phase delay; matched filters. The discrete-time Fourier transform; the discrete Fourier transform; the fast Fourier transform and its applications. Specification of network functions: approximation; highpass and bandpass transformation; ladder networks. Digital Filters: FIR filters, windows and frequency sampling; IIR filters; impulse invariance and bilinear transformation; filter realisation; rate changing in digital filters.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
