Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: The internal mechanism of computers and how they are organised and programmed. Topics include basic machine arithmetic, microprogramming, caches, translation look-aside buffers, RISC machines, and pipelined and parallel organisation.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 65% + laboratory work: 35%
Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week and one 2-hour laboratory per fortnight
Prerequisites: CSC1030 or CSE1303 or equivalent
Prohibitions: CSC2010, CSC2240, CSC3240, CSE2324, DGS2241, GCO2812, RDT2241
