Synopsis: At the completion of this unit students should be able to use a current popular PC business application development environment to develop complete applications and ActiveX components, documents and controls that: create and manipulate databases and their data, present multiple document interfaces, use the Windows clipboard, yield the CPU, function in a internet/intranet/extranet environment and call DLL and API routines. Discussion of object orientation in the context of business applications including the creations of business classes. A clean logical programming style that minimises errors is demonstrated. Discussion of application delivery including help and distribution.

Assessment: Laboratory and assignments: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 70% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.

Contact Hours: One x 2hour lecture/week, one x 1hour laboratory/week

Prerequisites: BUS1060 or equivalent (a first year visual programming unit)
