Synopsis: This unit introduces students to commercial business application programming with a focus on desktop application. All of the fundamental structured and object oriented programming principles and concepts are introduced by the examination and modification of existing applications. Students will use the most advanced Integrated Development Environment (IDE) available to application developers (Microsoft VS.NET). They will be introduced to both main syntax branches of modern application development languages through exposure to both Visual Basic and C#.
Assessment: Laboratory and assignments: 30%+ Examination (2 hours): 70% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit
Contact Hours: Two x 1hour lecture/week, one x 1hour laboratory/week
