South Africa Second semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: An introduction to the South African legal system, its history, structure and sources of law. Particular emphasis is placed on the law as it affects business. The laws of delict and contract as they affect business are examined. The basic principles of the law of partnership and companies are also examined.
Assessment: Assignment (3000 words): 30% + Examination (3 hours, open book): 70%
Contact Hours: 2-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial per week
