Study mode and course location

On-campus (Clayton)

Course description

For details of this branch of engineering refer to the entry for the Bachelor of Engineering in this handbook. For information on Arts majors and minors, refer to the ‘Areas of study’ section on the Arts faculty website at www.arts.monash.edu.au/current/coursework/study_areas/.

Course structure

Students enter this branch of engineering after completion of the common first year (refer to the entry for the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Arts earlier in this section). It is recommended that students wishing to enter this branch of engineering complete ENG1050 in the first year.

Course requirements

Students require a total of 246 points including those gained at level 1, of which not less than 150 points must be obtained from the engineering units listed below.

The arts component requires 96 points, consisting of a major (48 points), a minor (24 points), an additional first-year sequence (12 points) and a further 12 points of arts units.

This was a new course structure for students entering level 2 of the program from 2005 onwards. Level 3 units from the engineering component of the program will be offered from 2006 and level 4 units will be offered from 2007. Students who entered level 2 of the program prior to 2005 should refer to the handbook for the year in which they commenced the course.
