Master of Health Professional Education

Course description

This course is designed for health professional educators wishing to study contemporary, evidence-based educational practices and to undertake high-quality educational research.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be graduates from any health-related or educational discipline who are currently engaged in teaching or educational development in one of the health-related disciplines. Applicants for this course must first enrol in the Graduate Certificate of Health Professional Education. They will also be required to submit a 200-word proposal outlining their intentions and aims of undertaking the masters degree.

Course structure

The course can be completed in one of three ways: by completing core and elective coursework units; or core and elective coursework units and a project; or core units and elective coursework units and a minor research thesis.

MEU0005 Educational research methods for the health professions
MEU0006 Simulation in health professional

Semester 2

MEU0003 Assessment and evaluation in health professional education

MEU0008 Advanced teaching practice development

Semester 3

Research project, or
Minor thesis

Assessment

Assessment includes analytical essays, oral presentations, practical tests and completion of an electronic portfolio.
