It provides students with recognised knowledge and skills in computer programming, information systems and information technology, and with a practical knowledge of computer hardware and software. The course aims to provide appropriately trained professionals in the field of commercial computing and to develop a conceptual framework that will allow students to keep pace with new developments. Entry requirementsThe normal entry requirement is a degree that is the equivalent of an Australian bachelors degree, not necessarily in an IT-related discipline. A Year 11 (or equivalent) mathematics background is desirable. Special pathways into postgraduate coursework studies exist for students who have appropriate work experience. Such students may apply for entry into the Graduate Diploma in Computing after completing the faculty’s Professional Certificate in Information Technology. Course structureThe course consists of eight units covering computer programming, software design, information technology and information systems, with a project in the final year. All students will be required to have met the objectives and satisfied the assessment requirements of eight units given in the following schedule: First year
