Course description

This course is designed to meet the needs and interests of leaders and managers of educational institutions, teachers, academics and personnel working in a variety of human service organisations who exercise formal or informal leadership responsibilities for the delivery of educational and related services.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold either:

  • an approved three-year bachelors degree in a relevant field with a credit average in the final year, or
  • an approved three-year bachelors degree (or equivalent) and a fourth year of study, or
  • an approved four-year bachelors degree, or
  • qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.

Course structure

The course consists of 48 points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units (three specialist elective units and one general elective unit):

Specialist elective units

  • EDF6821 Policy and governance, and/or
  • EDF6822 Leadership and organisation, and/or
  • EDF6823 Management and change, and/or
  • EDF6828 Resource management

General elective unit

  • Any one postgraduate unit

Articulation

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Leadership, Policy and Change) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit).
