MMS-ALFRED Second semester 2005 (OCL)
Synopsis: Skills for the design, implementation & analysis of randomised controlled clinical trials. Formulation of the research question, selection & recruitment of study subjects, comparability of groups, randomisation, defining the manoeuvre for developing & executing the measurements, interpreting findings, managing outcomes & considering issues of ethics, budget & quality assurance.
Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to: 1 design a protocol for a randomised controlled clinical trial; 2. clinically appraise a protocol of a randomised controlled clinical trial.
Assessment: Written assignments + Oral presentation
Contact Hours: 2 contact hours per week
